Hi Steve!
Great yacht! Great trip! Great questions?-)
First:
What is the temperature like in the middle of the ocean? Is air conditioning needed at midday, or even heating at midnight?
Second:
Is it possible, or will it be possible, to equip a Silent 62 with the Avikus system (NeuBoat Dock/Navi/Control)?
Hi Jens
Thanks for your message:
The weather has been very kind to us during the crossing. During the day, it is warm enough for shorts and a T-shirt, and a breeze is blowing from the stern through the yacht and the forward door. At night, we actually use air conditioning in the cabin as the side port holes are closed. The sea temperature mid way across the Atlantic was around 26 degrees C.
There are many options with systems like Avikus. We have been discussing this recently and engaged with Avikus. One thing to consider is that our yachts are very manoeuvrable with twin shafts and bow and stern thrusters. In reality, you need good situational awareness with cameras, etc, but sometimes it’s better just to rely on good training and Captain skills. Consider that 50% of our customers for our Silent 62 are owner operators, no one ever complains that our yachts are difficult to dock or manoeuvre. That said, within reason, you can have what you want on your yacht.
